CAPTIVE TRACK SYSTEM

"I'll never throw a track again." Gyro-Trac's patented Captive Track system gives you the freedom to say this. Originally developed by Bombardier, Gyro-Trac now owns and has improved upon this low-ground-pressure flotation technology to make our machines more capable and efficient in rugged and unstable environments.

The Captive Track system is composed of six nylon- and polyester-reinforced tracks assembled with heat-treated steel crosslinks, enclosed by the machine's steel tub on one side (keeping water out and hydraulic fluid in) and the capture cage on the other, which makes throwing a track nearly impossible. The tracks mold to the terrain as the machine moves, distributing overall ground contact and giving the machine its incredibly low ground pressure, and enabling Gyro-Trac machines to traverse swampy wetlands and steep rocky inclines with ease. In fact, a Gyro-Trac can actually venture into some areas where humans on foot and other machines cannot.

SWING-TOOTH CUTTER HEAD

Gyro-Trac's exclusive spiral-mounted swing-tooth design saves energy, time and money.

The Gyro-Trac GT-18XP comes equipped with our 700H cutter head, featuring a swinging-flail-tooth, spiral-mounted cutting system. The patented spiral design lightens the drum, allowing the cutter head's twin dedicated hydraulic motors to generate more RPMs without wasting energy - meaning more acres cleared in less time. Surrounding each swinging tooth is a pocket that protects the teeth; if a tooth strikes a rocky or unyielding surface, it swivels back into its pocket immediately. Each pocket is individually welded into the cylinder, which prevents the drum from bending and flexing.

FIXED-TOOTH CUTTER HEAD

Why pound trees with a hammer when you can cut them with a knife?

Gyro-Trac's fixed-tooth planar head design represents the next generation in mulching technology. Instead of hammering away at trees like other mulching machines, our patented spiral-design fixed-tooth 500HF and 700HF cutter heads literally cut through trees like a knife, increasing the machine's throughput and producing finer, more attractive mulch - in fact, much of the tree is literally pulverized into dust. Operators can bring down even the largest and toughest trees with the increased power of the fixed-tooth system, which leaves surfaces cut more smoothly and greatly reduces vibration. The GT-13 model mulcher ships with the 500HF cutter head, and the GT-25 model comes equipped with the 700HF.

SUNDSTRAND SERIES 90™ HYDRAULICS

Gyro-Trac's GT-13, GT-18XP and GT-25 each utilize four closed-loop hydraulic systems: two for the hydro-static drive and two for the cutter head. Each system is anchored with a Sundstrand Series 90™ axial piston-driven pump. This closed-system design maximizes drive power without sacrificing cutting ability, so you can mulch at full power while climbing a steep incline.

The traction system is powered by two heavy-duty poclain hydraulic motors, and the cutter head is powered by two heavy-duty Rexroth variable-flow hydraulic motors.

The entire drive and workhead systems are monitored and controlled by Sundstrand's revolutionary Plus 1™ technology, constantly optimizing performance through split-second power distribution while measuring temperature and pressures, limiting flow when conditions become critical and preventing damage to your Gyro-Trac machine.
